Test automation without translation: when Business Experts and Developers finally speak the same language
Abstract:
Business experts specify system tests. Automation engineers implement them in Robot Framework.
Too often, both speak different languages - causing friction, delays, and a broken chain from requirements to reporting.
What if specification and automation could evolve in parallel, without handover loss - and without forcing anyone to leave their preferred tools?
In this talk, we show how TestBench, together with Robot Framework, enables a shared, keyword-driven workflow:
business experts work in a GUI application to create and review business-facing test specifications,
while Robot Framework developers implement and maintain the automation in VS Code.
Despite different environments, everything stays connected end-to-end (requirements → business tests → Robot implementation).
Test execution results are fed back into TestBench - including reporting - so teams gain transparency, traceability, and faster time-to-automation.
